• Dr. Gordon Turnbull - Senior Pastor

    Dr. Turnbull became Senior Pastor and Head of Staff at John Knox in November of 2015.  He is a graduate of Davidson College, Vanderbilt University, Union Theological Seminary in Virginia, and Princeton Theological Seminary.  He previously served pastorates in Shelbyville TN and Bristol TN.  His special interests in ministry include worship, missions, and Christian growth.

    Gordon and his wife Betsy have three grown sons:  Alec, Thomas and his wife Caroline, and John.  They also gratefully claim as family Miles Hite and his wife Morgan.  He enjoys music, fly fishing, and together with Betsy, hiking and backpacking.

  • Jessica Meggs - Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

    Jessica grew up at John Knox and called Greenville home until leaving to attend Wofford College in 2013. At Wofford she majored in both Religion and Government and took every opportunity to explore and discern her call to Youth Ministry. She is passionate about meeting students where they are in life and sharing the transformative love and grace of the Lord with them during their formative years. Jessica enjoys losing herself in really good books, finding the perfect spot to hang her hammock with friends, and spending time at the lake or in the mountains.

  • Susan Felton - Director of Children's Ministry

    Susan has graciously agreed to share her gifts as our Director of Children's Ministry .  She has over 16 years in public education and has previously served on the JKPC CE committee and as a member of Session.  Susan, her husband Bruce, and their daughter Emma are active in many ministries at John Knox.

  • Mandy Scott - Administrative Assistant

    Mandy Scott came to John Knox as Administrative Assistant in August of 2007. She has worked in several different office settings since graduating from North Greenville University in 2002 with a degree in Business Administration. Mandy enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 sons.

  • Brett Simmons - Financial Secretary

    Brett Simmons has been the Financial Secretary since March 2007. She is responsible for the financial concerns of the church such as receiving contributions, paying the bills, and budgeting.
    Brett is married to Brian and they have 2 children, Scott and Lauren. Brett enjoys spending time with family and being at the lake.

  • Lane Moore - Chancel Choir/Handbell Director

    Lane directs the Chancel Choir and the Handbell Choir for the 11:00 Sunday service. As an active pianist and accompanist in the area, he also provides special piano selections for the 11:00 service on occasion. Lane also directs the choral group "Cecelia's Day" made up primarily of professional musicians with the majority also being his former choral/band students. Lane continues as accompanist and assistant conductor of the Foothills Chorale in Clemson, a position he has held for over 20 years.

    After 35 years of teaching High School Band and Chorus, Lane recently retired fom that part of his professional activities. His most recent position was Director of Choral Activities at Dorman High School and Secondary Choral Coordinator for Spartanburg School District Six.  He and wife, Janet, are enjoying traveling, completing long over-due projects, and spending more time with family.  Their two daughters, Kelly and Cheryl, are also musicians and perform at John Knox with their dad as often as they can.  Kelly is the music teacher at Fairforest Elementary School in Spartanburg.  Cheryl was a middle school choral director prior to the birth of her children. She and husband, Keith (Cruickshank), live in Reading, Mass. with their daughter, Katy Jane, and son, Owen James.

  • Elizabeth Guest Martin - Chalice Choir and Children's Music Director

    Elizabeth Guest Martin is a very enthusiastic person with everything she is in involved in, especially music!  A 2002 graduate of Furman University with a Batchelor of Music Education, she went on to earn a Masters of the Arts School Administration in 2007.  She served as church music director for eleven years at another Presbyterian church prior to joining the John Knox staff in 2014.

    In addition to serving as both the Chalice Choir Director and Director of Children's Music at John Knox, Elizabeth teaches music at LaFrance Elementary School in Anderson (SC) School District 4.  She has been a member of the Greenville Chorale since 2008.  Elozabeth and her husband Samuel Martin have known each other since childhood having grown up in the same church; they married in 2013.

  • Greta Williams - Nursery Director

    Greta Williams has been Nursery Director since Oct of 2003. Since 2005, she has also been a Para Educator at Washington Center with Greenville County School District where she works with students that have moderate to severe mental and physical disabilities. Greta is married and has two grown children; she enjoys the outdoors with her family.

  • Steve Grant - Organist

    Steve is a lifelong native of Anderson, SC. He started playing the organ in church at age 14 at his father's church. He was ordained an Elder while playing the organ at Fort Hill Presbyterian in Clemson.  Steve has a Bachelor of Music degree in organ from Furman University and graduate study at The University of Michigan. He is currently the Dean of the Anderson Organ Guild. Steve enjoys listening to classical music and quiet drives through the beautiful mountains of SC and NC. He is the owner of Grant Tax Service in Anderson.

  • Betty Ward – Chalice Choir (Early Service)

    Betty Ward was born in Memphis, Tennessee and started playing piano when she was six years old. She took formal piano lessons through three years of college at Memphis University.  She started playing piano for Sunday school groups at church and playing piano and organ for different churches beginning in high school.  She moved to Greenville in 1982 and has worked full time at the law firm of Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP for about 22 years. She began playing for the Early Service at John Knox in the summer of 2011 and substitutes at several churches in Greenville.  Betty is married to her husband, Michael, and they have two sons, Graham and Grayson.

  • Caleb Stephens - Facility Manager

    Caleb Stephens has been the Facility Manager since September 2014.  Caleb is responsible for all maintenance issues that occur on a daily basis.  Caleb is a local native of Greenville County and previously worked at the Salvation Army Kroc Center.  Caleb is married to Lauren and they have two daughters, Piper and Hollis. Caleb enjoys spending time with his family on the weekends, taking trips to NASCAR races, and working outside doing various landscaping projects.
